Why should I get custom fit for my new G.R.I.P. irons? |
$269.95 Per Set |
Buying golf clubs is similar in some ways to buying shoes; one size does not fit all. Approximately, one in 10 people actually fit into off-the-rack iron sets. At G.R.I.P., we believe that every golfer will benefit from custom-fitted clubs, which is why all of our G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Iron Sets are custom fit for our customers, free-of-charge.
It is widely believed that club fitting is time consuming and is only available if you purchase golf clubs from a teaching pro, with a cost of $600-$1,200. G.R.I.P.’s revolutionary online custom-fitting system assures that you have the right shaft flex, club length, grip size, lie angle, and loft.
Our goal is to fit you in the same manner major golf stores and manufacturers have fit their customers for the past 25 years, using a “static fitting process.” This is a simple four step process and can be completed by using a simple yard stick or tape measure. By giving us your custom fitting information, we are able to custom assemble your golf clubs to fit your game.
Step 1 & 2: Club Length and Lie Angle Lie angles are very important and the wrong angle can result in inconsistent shot making and undesirable ball flight. By providing us with the length of your arms and your height, we are able to determine your proper shaft length. Typically (but not always), if you are tall, you will either need a longer golf club and/or the lie angle can be adjusted slightly to fit your build. If you are on the shorter side, we recommend adjusting the lie angle (flatter), instead of altering the length to avoid a loss of distance. We use a Maltby Loft/Lie Machine to alter your iron set one iron at a time. There is skill involved with the alteration of metals as it takes a trained hand and a soft touch.
Step 3: Shaft Choice You have the choice of True Temper Stainless Steel UTIM shafts or lightweight G.R.I.P. Exotic 100% Graphite Shafts.
GRAPHITE SHAFTS: Graphite is great for players who desire more distance in their shots as the lighter weight will increase your club speed. A wonderful attribute of graphite is that it also dampens the vibration of your shots, which is beneficial to those who have some pain when playing golf, i.e., back pain, arthritis, sore joints, etc.
Graphite Shaft Benefits:
-
Increased distance with lighter weight
-
Dampens vibration on shots
-
Exceptional feel
-
Easier to swing and gentler on the body
Available Flexes: Regular, Stiff, Lady, Senior
STEEL SHAFTS: Steel shafts are heavier than graphite shafts, which is beneficial to players who don’t need extra distance with their irons. A heavier club is easier to control than a (graphite shaft) lighter club.
Benefits:
Available Flexes: Regular & Stiff
Step 4: Grips Not all grips fit every golfer. By measuring your hand, we will fit you for the proper size grip for your new G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Irons. Many golfers like the feel of an oversized grip. However, if a grip is too large for your hands, it is a detriment that makes it more difficult to turn over your arms through impact, thus creating a slice. The opposite applies to grips that are too small for your hands. If you have arthritis, please note it on your order as we recommend oversized grips, which will reduce inflammation during your round. |
